Dr. Giorgio Ferriero, MD, PhD (Italy)

Giorgio Ferriero is the Co-Chief Editor of the European Journal of Physical and Rehabilitation
Medicine, and the head of the department of Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM) at the
Scientific Institute of Lissone of the ICS Maugeri in Italy.

After graduating in Medicine at Università degli Studi di Genova in 1993, he finished his
fellowship program in PRM in 1997, and in 2015 took his PhD in Advanced Sciences in
Rehabilitation Medicine and Sport at the Tor Vergata University in Rome. He received the
European Certificate of Fellowship in PRM in 2008.

He started working at the Scientific Institute of Veruno of the Foundation Salvatore Maugeri in
1997. In 2015 he worked as consultant at the PRM Department of the Hamad Medical Corporation
in Doha, Qatar. Since 2016 he works at the Scientific Institute of Lissone of the ICS Maugeri, Italy.
He has been teaching PRM at the Bachelor Programs of Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy,
and the Fellowship Programs in PRM since 2003.

His main field of research is the psychometrical analysis of outcome measures, but his publications
cover multiple topics of the rehabilitation field. He contributed as lecturer and chairperson in
several meetings.

In 2017 he was awarded with the Forchheimer Prize at the ISPO World Congress in Cape Town,
South Africa, for the most outstanding paper on objective clinical assessment, clinical evaluation or
clinical measurement published in Prosthetics and Orthotics International during the years prior to
the congress. He is member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Rehabilitation
